Hello! We are currently preparing our robot for worlds, but we found an issue with our chassis. After 30 or so seconds of continuous movement, especially turning, two of our motors stall out, and the chassis begins to turning. After 10 or so more seconds, the whole drive stalls out. Our chassis runs on 4 high-speed motors on 4 inch omni wheels.
The VersaFrame system is an entire collection of products designed to eliminate frustration and make advanced designs available to all teams. By utilizing modular, low-cost construction components, teams can build almost anything they can think of - and they can do it with only a drill and a wrench.
A forum to discuss VEX Robotics. Back in March, we previewed VEXcode V5 Text, a new programming software created in collaboration with Robomatter that gave users advanced features in a text-only programming environment.

While it may be a waste of motors/pneumatics, making a ramp would not be a bad idea if your robot is too heavy to lift itself. The rules state that the robot has to be above the field perimeter and touching the bar, so it seems like early on in the season this might work if the robots at tournaments aren't lifting themselves up.
Did anyone else have problems with these burning out after a while? We had the installation on daily for about 6 hours, and over the course of about a month and a half had to replace 2 or 3 of them. A few students of mine used them as well and they burnt out after much less usage.
4x4 ATV This platform is a lot cheaper and smaller. Looks like there is probably room for a Pi, camera, compass, and battery.... hard to tell though. This would be better suited for indoor use since it would be able to get into smaller places in the house.
But Bracus and the Ghosts found it to be better than being out in the open. Sand was swirled into a mild vortex as the propellers of the drop ship lowered it into the closed alleyway of the vex metropolis. The cockpit. opened and the thick feet of the Cabal made low vibrations across the metal as they landed out of the ship and onto the surface.
We recently went to competition, and, for the 4th time this year had issues with motor burnout in our drive train. Sounds pretty normal, but the thing is that we recently re-geared our drive train to work with 6 motors, and were burning out maybe 45 seconds into every match, but could drive for a half-hour uninhibited before running into issues.

Part 2) While I don't know of any actual equations, a good rule of thumb is that any robot 15 lbs or less (you can probably stretch this to 17.5 or even 20) can get away with six motor turbo gearing, and four motor speed probably won't burn for any robot made out of aluminum, provided it's not built stupidly. Good luck, and I hope this helps!

The VersaChassis Mini gives you the freedom to design almost any kind of drive system you could want. The lightweight system maximizes the robot’s power-to-weight ratio, which means you can use less power accelerating and moving your robot, and more power playing the game and scoring points.
It's generally a good idea to split up your subsystem (such as a chassis, lift, etc.) between different PTCs and have no more than four motors per PTC. Of course, if the motors themselves are burning out, there's not much you can do about it.
University of Advancing Technology Robotics Team competed in the 2018 VEX Robotics Worlds Competition. They programmed their robot to stack cones and park autonomously. The team consists of three freshman, who study robotics & embedded systems, cyber security and network engineering at UAT.
