_ The Boeing 727 has been a culmination of eleven years of hard work with the first prototype the -100 taking to the skies in 1963 and the stretched version -200 in 1967. Initial design studies began in 1956 and to this day most airlines still fly this 60s bird with modifications done with regards to its avionics and engine noise levels to bring the aircraft in conformation totoday's safety standards. Some -200 hasve also been fitted with winglets to reduce drag. This tri-jet has retained the 707's fuselage cross-section and was the first Boeing aircraft to feature the APU (Auxliary Power Unit). This famous tri-jet was produced in great numbers and a wide variety of variants including the combi and freight versions. The 727 production ceased in 1984 but you have a chance to relive the memory of flying this famous jet and get a hands on experience with Captain Sim's 727-100/200 'Captain' Exterior addon for MS FSX.
_Csim's 727 is by far the most accurately designed 3d model for FSX. Not only this, the aircraft comes loaded with full features ranging from a highly realistic 3D design right down to highly detailed eye candy that one can only expect to be added by a thoroughly professional developer like Captain Sim. The addon also includes a variety of liveries alongwith different variants such as the -100, -200 alongwith normal Pax, Combi and Cargo versions. It also comes with the Aircraft Editing utility that makes the job of configuring the aircraft a lot more easier. Lets take a closer look at Csim's "new kid on the block"- The 727-100/200 'Captain' Exterior.
_ Csim's 727 features wide array of animated parts ranging from animated control surfaces to passenger and cargo doors, animated engine cowlings to even an animated radar in the nose cone. Not only this, there is even a flight attendant to greet the fellow "virtual" passenger.
_ An excellently rendered 3D model of a flight attendant that greets the "virtual" passenger when the passenger door is opened. The passenger stairs have been meticulously designed and professionally animated to give you a realistic impression.
Captain Sim have been courteous enough to provide another flight attendant at the rear entry area of the aircraft.
_ The cockpit windshields have been professionally designed. The animation of the cockpit windows and the modelling of the 3d pilot figures are realistic to the hilt..
_ The provision of the emergency slide on the Csim 727 is of the many eye candies that Captain Sim has to offer..
Maintenance mode gives you a wide aspect of how extremely detailed Captain Sim have designed this aircraft. Each and every part of the aircraft has been accurately designed which is evidenced by the screenshots above.
Highly detailed textures make the CSIM 727 pleasing to the flight simmer's eyes!
The control surfaces are accurately animated to give a realistic feel to Csim's 727. Here you see flaps, rudders, spoilers, elevators, rudders and ailerons being put to test.
The interior section of the cargo hold of the 727 freighter gives you a feeling that you're actually in there. The textures and the designing is flawless.
Seen here is the main undercarriage of the 727. Notice that every minute detail is finely rendered to give you an impression that you're actually there. The geardoor is beautifully designed and the dirt textures are more pronounced. The struts, suspesions, tires and the taxi lights all seem to be in the right place. The animation is accurately sequenced and smooth.
Conclusion

Captain Sim has come up wtih another gem of an addon in the form of the their latest 727 addon. The Csim 727 flies like a dream thanks to the ultra realistic Flight Dynamics. This project has been the outcome of months of hardwork put in by Csim delevopers and to me this is the best Boeing 727 addon for FSX. I'd give 4/5 for this fantastic piece of addon as 1 point is reserved for the exlusion of the VC. All in all, like Csim's C-130, the 757-200, the 727 will remain on my hard drive for a long time to come.
