“The Enemy Within”

Road travel in Pakistan has always been a tedious and somewhat arduous affair. With the slow improvement of the major roads and the introduction of the Motorway between Lahore and Islamabad this has been made somewhat easier. People in Pakistan are always on the move whether by train, plane or automobile they need to be somewhere. So we have all these people on the go sometimes for hours on end and the ever-increasing coach and bus services competing for the patronage. Entertainment seems to be a big draw so it seems but to others who look at it in more detail it is a big nuisance.

Over 99% of the coach companies choose to show INDIAN movies as opposed to Pakistani entertainment. But that is not the crux of the issue. The issue is that coach companies are totally oblivious to what they are showing and who the audience is. Case in point I recently traveled on the “Rehbher” coach company between Islamabad and Lahore. Traveling with me was my wife and young daughter as well as my wife’s sister and young niece. I noticed that there were a number of other families also on board. What greeted us when got on board was a barrage of Indian songs from the latest movies shot in the most vulgar fashion. My family were particularly uncomfortable and I voiced my concern. What amazed me was that not a single local Pakistani complained including those traveling with families. They reminded me of cattle totally apathetic to what was happening around them. I could see their wives looking away in embarrassment yet none of the men spoke up.

I promptly complained and the song videocassette was turned off. So off we go, no sooner had we got going when we were now barraged with the Indian Movie “Qayamat”. This is a blatant Anti Pakistan movie. The dialogue and the stereotypical depiction of Muslims as terrorist is disgusting. The film is a blatant rip off the Hollywood movie “The Rock”. The difference being that American version is based on internal discontent whereas the Indians turn such stories into propaganda. Again I was amazed that firstly this movie was being shown and secondly how the cattle on the bus just took in the garbage. Again, thinking it was my patriotic duty, I raised my concern but to no avail. For the next 3 hours we were subjected to the vilest Indian propaganda.

When we stopped at the service station I made a beeline for the conductor. I asked him if this bus service was running in Pakistan or India? He asked why? I said you have subjected us to three hours of Indian propaganda don’t you have any respect for your own country? He replied they only had one movie and this was it and they had played Pakistani Punjabi movies and young Pakistani’s had complained and stated they wanted to see Indian movies. What could I say but think “The enemy within”. I retorted that your coach company should stop carrying decent families and continue with young sex craving singles who do not care about the Anti Pakistani dialogues and innuendo as long as they see semi naked Indian actresses dancing on the screen in vulgar poses. He was lost for words and I didn’t want to embarrass the poor chap further. But more importantly what we are witnessing is this poisonous propaganda being passed to our youth through the guise of entertainment and how it is being broadcast to the masses without any re-course. I challenge the owners of the Bus companies, restaurants and hotels to travel on the buses, visit the hotels and restaurants in India and see how many Pakistani dramas are being shown. You will find NONE! Anything that even mentions or has any kind of anti Indian sentiment is strictly banned and so much is the anti Pakistan sentiment amongst the populous that hotels, cable channels etc in India refuse to show it.

There is no doubt that good and friendly neighbourly relations should always be maintained but when some one stands in your face and abuses your mother then only the biggest “BAIGHAIRRET” will take it and not do anything. It is sad to say that it is exactly the impression I get when I see hoards of Pakistani’s sit and watch the anti Pakistan garbage like “Border”, “Gadar”, “Qayamat”, “Mission Kashmir” and many more that the Indian film makers, egged on by the racist BJP and Congress government, have decide to venture into to make a cheap buck while showing their supposed patriotic colours. Food for the cattle of Pakistan and the virile young men looking for cheap thrills at the expense of having their mothers abused by the extremist Indians.

If you, like so many others, are true Pakistani’s then object to this garbage and make your feelings known. Stand out from the cattle and become first and foremost a Muslim and a patriotic Pakistani.
